QUICK & EASY Crochet Pencil/Pen Caddy

QUICK & EASY Crochet Pencil/Pen Caddy
April 19, 2017 Snowflake Crochet

I have numerous amounts of fantastic Teachers as friends and family. I’ve seen first hand how hard they work day in and day out to give students the best possible education often times going out of pocket for extra supplies. Our children will spend nearly as much time at home with family as they do at school with teachers and faculty. It’s important that we take the time to say thank you.

I crocheted this really practical and really simple Pencil Caddy as a quick and easy gift idea for the wonderful Teachers in our lives. If you don’t have any teachers to gift this to, you can still make one for yourself and use it as a crochet hook or knitting needle holder. You can also use it for your desk or drop that remote in and make it a remote holder. Feel free to add a border at the top or fringes to customize the look for different Teachers. The possibilities are endless.

To keep the bottom and top sturdy, I used a cable technique using a portion of cable/tube from my Tunisian crochet hooks that were just sitting around the house.

Double strand of Lion brand 24/7 cotton yarn in colors denim and navy for the Caddy

Round 1: Make a magic loop and crochet 10 SC around the loop. Place a stitch marker in the first SC of the round. Since we will be working in a continuous round, it is important that we use the marker to identify the first SC of each round.

Round 2: Do not join. You will work into the first SC of the first round. Work two SC in each SC around. (20 SC total)

Round 3: Work 2 SC in the first SC space then 1 SC in the next space. Continue repeating until you reach the first SC of the previous round. (30 SC total)

Round 4: Work 2 SC in the first SC space then 1 SC in the next 2 spaces. Continue repeating until you reach the first SC of the previous round. (40 SC total)

The diameter should be about 3-3.5 inches

Continue working 1 SC for each space for 20 additional rounds.

The first 2-3 rounds should be done with plastic cable to achieve a more sturdy base.

The last 2 rounds should be completed with the same method.

My Caddy with this many rounds came out to be 5in high
